TIME – SPACE – EXISTENCE
Venice Biennial Architecture Exhibition 2023
International experts from the fields of art, architecture, and science reflected on social and environmental sustainability.
Decarbonization and decolonization—both ecological and cultural—were the main themes of this Architecture Biennale, for which curator Lesley Lokko sought to harness a powerful tool: the power of imagination.
This Biennale also explored the sounds, smells, and light of places, wherever they may be—even if only in the imagination.
Und sie sprach vom Aufbau von Wissen. Das, so Lesley Lokko, sei auch eine Form von Architektur – nur größer.
The exhibition, organized by ECC Italy, featured an international and diverse group of architects, designers, artists, and photographers. From May to November 2023, they gathered in Venice to explore their relationship with space and time through various media and from different perspectives. The combination of expertise and background knowledge has resulted in an exhibition that aims to discover new ways of living and rethink architecture in today’s context.

Malu M. Luther was created as part of the Children’s Biennale’s summer program:
500 years, 94 years, and a suggestion.
Malu M. Luther,
A teacher of down-to-earth ethics and GNÜLPH is Uncle Martin’s great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter.
That’s a good laugh—she’s once again churned out 60 new theses from her 60 students, which historians will be debating in 500 years
first have to put it back into some historical context.

Vironica, the Corona Scarecrow is a collaborative project by reingesägt, Heureka Bildung, and the Children’s Biennale in Esslingen, starting in October 2020
Vironica is the Robert Koch Institute’s best COVID scarecrow. Hasn’t she triumphantly kicked all those dangerous Corona, Carina, Carola, and Corinna viruses into the trash?
Completely out of the blue, this totally new, nasty, blue Matryoshka virus latches onto her. Now she’s stuck with it—this stupid pathogen, this one. It escaped from a Russian secret lab, as semi-informed intelligence circles were whispering. But don’t worry, Vironica will shoo this little blue guy away, too. Shoo, shoo.
